LIGHT 26: Final Phase
LIGHT 26: Final Phase
Elia gazed at the entrance to the newly emerged record domain.
It was like a pale white fissure of light opened in the deepest part of the sealed zone. Beyond the stone floor warped by collapse, only light rose in silence. The outline of the entrance did not waver. It made no sound. Inside, the light slowly pulsed in the same rhythm as the marking carved into Lumira’s arm.
It is calling.
Even as Elia felt it, she did not let the white light she had left beside Lumira break.
Lumira had still not awakened. Her body lay on the stone floor, white particles drifting quietly around her, and only the marking on her arm returned a certain response.
I cannot leave her.
But I have to go forward.
Around the entrance, sealed records began to unfold on their own.
Bands of white light floated through the space, and the records that had overlapped began to loosen one by one. They were no longer fragments as before. Broken images, eroded words, interrupted traces—now they had begun to hold before and after, forming a single flow.
Elia followed that flow.
Within the records remained the footsteps of those who had existed in the past.
They had lived in different eras. Their remaining forms were unclear, and many of their names had been lost. Even so, the order of their actions had been restored.
Every one of them had advanced through collapse.
They crossed sealed zones, followed record points, traced the marks of erosion, and in the end, all headed toward the same place.
Lines of light floated in the air.
The first route.
The second route.
Another route beyond them.
Though they began separately, all of them ultimately converged on a single point.
The same record point.
The same destination.
And the place that led to the same choice.
Again, to the same place.
Elia’s white light trembled faintly.
Meanwhile, Lumira’s shadow, which remained in the deepest part of the sealed zone, entered the record domain.
The shadow crossed the open entrance as a black outline. At the instant it passed the boundary, white markings surfaced across its form, leaving pale footprints on the floor. The footprints did not vanish. They pulsed in the same rhythm as the marking on Lumira’s arm.
Each time the shadow moved deeper, more records opened around the entrance.
The light of the records stretched toward the ceiling, spread across the walls, and temporarily restored the outlines of the space that collapse had blurred.
As if responding to it, the collapse reactions continuing in each area almost completely stopped.
The boundary light that had been trembling in the distance calmed, and the intermittent reverse flow of white particles settled. The low sound of collapse withdrew, and the distortions that remained in the passage ceased moving.
Too quiet.
A balance that had not been held for a long time was beginning to return.
The guardians also changed.
The light-formed figures that had continued sealing stopped one after another. The markings flowing across their black garments settled into a quiet rhythm, and the sealing lines spread across the floor slowly faded.
They stopped sealing.
Their interference with the record domain was also lifted.
They are not stopping it.
Only now, they are not stopping it.
The ancient layer of light that had been closed until then opened, and the final group of records sealed away from the past appeared.
Elia connected to a deeper record.
Her white light stretched into the entrance and touched the flow of records. There, the full shape of what had continued after erosion remained.
The beings of the past had not ended through erosion.
Their forms had vanished.
Their names had been lost.
Most of their records had been eroded.
Even so, they were still inside the flow that continued afterward. They had not disappeared completely. They had remained in another form, connected to the next place.
It had not ended.
That recognition settled heavily and quietly inside Elia.
In the depths of the records, their final actions were shown.
The beings of the past had made one choice at the end.
It was not merely an action to stop collapse.
Nor was it meant to end erosion.
It was a choice made to connect what lay beyond.
As Elia followed the records, she understood that the same choice was tied to the present as well.
The same flow still continued.
Lumira’s shadow was heading toward it.
Lumira’s marking was responding in the same rhythm.
And the same choice still remained for them.
They had to choose.
But Lumira had not yet awakened.
At that moment, the marking carved into Lumira’s arm gave the strongest response it ever had.
The rhythm did not break.
Only the amount of light increased.
The white radiance spread from her arm to her shoulder and formed a thin ring of light around her fallen body. The entrance to the record domain brightened in the same way, and the entire surrounding space was enveloped by the response.
Lumira’s fingertip moved slightly.
Elia’s gaze returned at once.
It was not a full awakening.
Her eyelids remained closed, and her breathing was shallow.
Even so, the response was certainly there.
She is coming back.
It can still reach her.
Elia watched the change.
Lumira had not returned yet.
But she had not gone completely beyond reach.
When the marking’s response reached its peak, the deepest part of the record domain opened.
Beyond the entrance, an even deeper space slowly unfolded.
It was the final place that had remained unseen until now.
Layers of white light parted to the left and right, revealing a silent space beyond. There, the place the beings of the past had ultimately reached still remained.
There was no sound of collapse.
No sealing lines.
Only pale light filled the floor, illuminating a narrow path that led toward the center.
At the same time, the road toward the final choice appeared.
Elia confirmed the place before her.
It was the place she had finally reached by following the records.
There was not only one choice left.
But unless she went forward, she would never know all of it.
I have to go.
Elia looked at the fallen Lumira.
The marking on her arm continued to shine quietly.
I am not leaving you behind.
I will move forward while keeping us connected.
In the deepest part of the sealed zone, Lumira’s shadow stood still at the innermost point. It did not move. It did not look back. It only seemed to be waiting there for Elia to arrive.
Elia gathered her white light.
To go toward the record domain.
To advance to the final place.
At that instant, every connection stabilized.
The collapse reactions fell silent, and the guardians stopped moving. Only the boundary light gently illuminated the space, while white particles drifted slowly like falling snow.
Sound disappeared.
The passage, the sealed zone, and the record domain all sank into the same silence.
It was too quiet.
As though the world itself were waiting for the next choice.
Within that silence, the connection to the final phase was completed.
Then, in the deepest place, Lumira’s waiting shadow turned toward Elia for the first time.
On the shadow’s chest, a marking that Lumira herself did not have was glowing.
