The room was quiet enough to hear dust drifting through the air.
Sunlight slipped gently through the curtains,
resting on a small wooden desk by the window.
Lumi hadn’t planned to clean that day.
She simply opened a drawer that had been closed for a long time,
and there it was.
A box.
Not locked,
not hidden,
just waiting.
Inside were letters.
Some were neatly folded.
Some were messy, with crossed-out lines and uneven ink.
Lumi picked up the first one.
She recognized her own handwriting immediately.
“This one was for someone I wanted to thank,” she whispered.
“But I thought it was too late.”
Another letter.
“This one was for saying sorry.”
Her fingers trembled slightly.
There were letters filled with joy,
and letters heavy with sadness.

and letters written on nights when she felt very small.

Lumi sat down on the floor,

“Were you useless?” she asked softly.
