Tomorrow existed somewhere ahead.
But tonight, Lumi was still here.

The sky was neither dark nor bright.
It was that soft color that only appears when night is almost finished.

Lumi sat by the window, knees drawn close.
She wasn’t thinking about where to go next.

She was thinking about how tired it felt
to always be moving.

A small bird landed quietly on the railing outside.
It didn’t sing.
It didn’t fly away.

It just stayed.

“Tomorrow, I’ll walk forward,” Lumi whispered.
Not as a promise.
Not as a plan.

Just as a thought she didn’t need to act on yet.

The bird tilted its head, as if listening.
Then it tucked its wings in and rested.

Lumi exhaled slowly.
She didn’t have to move tonight.
Tomorrow could wait where it was.

Walking forward didn’t mean leaving everything behind.
It could start by simply standing still, together.

Lumi stayed there until the sky changed again.
That was enough.
